I normally don’t review but I felt compelled to because everything went so smoothly from start to finish. Vlad was exceptionally professional in communicating with me every step of the way when I had questions. Car was transported in an enclosed trailer from MI to CA. I was more worried than usual as my new car was a bit pricier. The pickup included tons of pictures which put me at ease and also the carrier they used was very communicative as well, and even included GPS tracking data as they got close. I wouldn't hesitate to use CarHauler247 again in the future. The definitely put a good name to the car transport industry.

This was my second time using Landing Pad / Car Hauler 247, and I’m very happy with their service. They helped transport my purchased car from an auction in Montclair, CA to Mountain View, CA. I received an immediate/instant quote at a good price, and their communication over email and phone was excellent. They answered all my questions and accommodated special pickup requests. I definitely recommend their service!

Ordered transport for an SUV from Illinois to Phoenix. Quick and professional process from start to finish. Received my vehicle within 4 days of ordering and the price agreement was very satisfying. My transport was uncovered and all my new car needed was a wash, no scuff mark or scratches. Thank you.

California Vehicle Registration Guide

Shipping car to California

If you're moving to California start with making DMV happy - you must register your car and obtain California license plates within 20 days of establishing residency. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you through the process.

1. Timeframe for Registration

You must register your vehicle within 20 days of becoming a California resident. You're considered a resident if you:

  • Register to vote in California.
  • Pay in-state tuition at a California college or university.
  • Obtain a California driver's license or state ID.
  • Rent, lease, or buy property in California with the intent of living there.

2. Steps to Register Your Vehicle in California

A. Obtain a California Driver's License

Before registering your car, you'll need to apply for a California driver's license if you plan to drive in the state.

B. Visit a California DMV Office

Vehicle registration must be done in person at a California DMV office.

C. Gather Required Documents
  • Out-of-State Title and Registration: Bring your current vehicle title and registration from your previous state.
  • Proof of Insurance: California requires liability insurance from a provider licensed in the state.
  • Proof of Identity and Residency: Documents like a lease agreement, utility bill, or bank statement.
  • Smog Certificate: Ensure your car passes a smog inspection from a California-approved station.
  • Form REG 343: Complete the Application for Title or Registration.
D. Pay Fees

Registration fees vary based on the vehicle's value, weight, and your county of residence. Additional fees for emissions compliance and title transfer may apply.

E. Receive Your License Plates

Once registered, you'll receive California license plates and a registration sticker for your vehicle.

3. Smog Check Requirements

California has strict emissions standards. If your car was manufactured in another state, it must meet California emissions standards to be registered. Check your car's emissions label or consult a smog check station to ensure compliance.

4. Surrendering Out-of-State Plates

California does not require you to surrender out-of-state license plates. However, some states may require their return, so check with your previous state's DMV.

5. Penalties for Not Registering

Failing to register your vehicle within 20 days can result in:

  • Fines and late registration fees.
  • Additional penalties for driving with an out-of-state plate as a California resident.
